Our Story
The story of how we met and our relationship have always involved comedy and lots of laughs. Katie saw Lew for the first time at the Dead Crow Comedy Room in 2014. She went to a show with a friend and Lew was unexpectedly performing stand up that night. As many of you know, Lew has a very captivating and friendly presence, so it’s not a wonder that Katie wanted to meet him after seeing him on stage. A few weeks passed before mutual friends were able to get us together (once again at the comedy room) and officially meet on October 16, 2014. After the formal introduction, Lew couldn’t believe that someone like Katie would be interested in meeting him and therefore avoided her the rest of the night. After our mutual friends left, Katie cornered Lew and told him he had to sit down and talk to her. We instantly connected and conversation then ensued for the remainder of the evening. Lew was very patient for a whole month, as it took us (and by us we mean Katie) that long to line up our schedules and go on a date. Our first date was November 14, and Lew wanted to take Katie to a nice, quiet French restaurant. After the day and time had been decided, Katie got first date jitters the night of and asked if we could meet for pizza and beer instead, and we then met at one of the busiest and loudest restaurants in downtown Wilmington (Oops!). We continued the evening at the Dead Crow Comedy Room for a comedy show. Everything worked out perfectly and we had a great time because one date led to another and now here we are getting ready to spend our lives together.
Early on in our relationship it came up in conversation how we had both been to Bald Head Island, how much we loved this magical place, and that this was the place we had each pictured getting married. (Whoa, light bulb.) Since then, Bald Head Island has always been a place we love to visit and very special in our lives. This island became even more special when we got engaged on the beach there on July 4, 2017.
When we talked about what we wanted for our wedding, we knew we wanted a place where those closest to us could relax, have fun, spend time with each other, and enjoy the beauty of Coastal North Carolina. We’ve put together this website to help you in planning your trip to Bald Head Island. Whether you choose to stay on the Island or in the surrounding area, we recommend that you book your accommodations as soon as possible. You can find information here. As plans for the wedding unfold, we will update the website to keep you informed. Please feel free to use the contact button at the bottom of each page to reach out to us directly with any questions you have as you plan your trip or you can click here. We are so excited for you to be part of our wedding, and we’re grateful to all of you for your love and support. We look forward to seeing everyone!
Love,
Katie & Lew
